Below are 24 suggestions for fundraising, one to celebrate each year of Anton’s life. Even small contributions like these can make a difference. Remember to keep it legal, keep it safe and have fun!
1. Persuade your friends and family to hold a car-wash-a-thon £5 a car!
2. Offer to baby sit for friends and family for £5 per hour and donate it to ADSF. Or walk the dog for 1 hour for 5 days for £10.
3. Give your friends a tube of Smarties each and ask them to fill it with coins for when it?s empty. 20p coins fit very nicely.
4. If you or friends have a really nice garden you could hold an ?open garden? on a nice sunny afternoon? Charge an entry fee, and sell cups of tea and coffee etc. You could even have a BBQ or summer party ? ask everyone to pay £2 to come along and bring some food with them ? throw in a raffle too.
5. How about a ?bad habit box?? 20p each time they run out of will power and give in to their bad habit. Or the opposite could be enforced with a tax on luxuries. If their weakness is chocolate or expensive make up etc., they put 5p in a box every time they treat themselves!
6. Would your boss donate an extra xx hours of holiday for one person? It would make a great raffle prize! Sell the tickets for £2 each ? with people able to buy as many as they like.
7. At work or amongst friends is there anyone prepared to have wet sponges or jelly thrown at them ? charging the throwers 50p a time or £2 if it?s the Boss!
8. Guess the number of sweets in the jar. Fill a jar with wrapped sweets and get people to guess the number of sweets in the jar for 20p. The person who guesses the closest wins the jar of sweets.
9. If it?s your Birthday or Christmas whilst you are fundraising, why not forgo your cards, and ask people to donate the cost of the card and postage instead. £2 sounds about right (and think off all those trees you will also be helping to save!).
10. Make your own video and charge family and friends to see it, throw in the popcorn and sweets and make a night of it.
11. Sponsor job swop ? sponsor the boss to work on reception or serve in the canteen for 2 hours/day etc.
12. Dress down/fancy dress day ? charge £2 to wear what you like to work or choose a funky fancy dress theme.
13. Mobile disco - just hire the equipment, get some cheesy 80?s CDs together, charge an entry fee and you?re away.
14. ?athons? ? any period of endurance will do! There are plenty of alternative marathons you could try out, such as X hours of continuous live music playing, X hours nonstop dancing, hopping, swimathon ? the list is endless and relay teams essential! Get sponsored.
15. Iron-a-thon offer to iron shirts a £2 a go.
16. Car boot sale- Could you use the firm?s car park? People pay you £10 to have a stall and you could sell drinks and snacks on the day.
17. Auction of promises ? try to get people to donate a promise X hours of their time X days use of their belongings, the list is endless, or donate a gift for auction.
18. Pub games ? with your local?s permission, hold an evening of pub games such as darts and pool with a prize or a penalty. Ask the friendly manager to donate 2p for every pint sold.
19. Piggy back other peoples events e.g. Company dinner dance, conference etc. Ask the organisers if you can run a raffle for ADSF.
20. Fashion show - buy clothes from the ADSF charity shop. Sell tickets then auction off the clothes at the end of the evening.
21. Gather prizes from local shops, unwanted Birthday and Christmas gifts, and have an instant raffle at work or your local pub...Simply write the name
of the prize on a piece of paper, and pin this to a notice board and sell for up to £5 a ticket as a lucky dip ? with a prize every time.
22. Cake sale or other homemade produce can raise a lot of money in the office, fairy cakes, chutneys are very popular. £2 a pot, 10p a cake
23. Find out if your company has a match giving scheme, many companies will match £1 for £1 (might yours do it for £2?) for employees who take part in fundraising for charity. Usually capped.
24. Organise an afternoon tea party at your home. Ask your neighbours to bring cakes, biscuits and drinks, and charge other people to come along! Add bring and buy at the same time.
These are just a few ideas to give you a head start, but come up with your own with friends and family. Remember: the Anton Day Smile Foundation may even end up helping out one of your friends or family one day.
